Yes, I realize it’s been a while since I’ve written anything substantial, and I feel bad about that, so in the meantime I’m going to buy you off with opposing views of Mt Hood.
Taken today from the outskirts of Madras, Oregon.
Taken last April from underneath the Marquam Bridge in Portland.

Mt. Hood is pointy. I did not know that.
Wow - gorgeous shots! It’s only been clear enough for me to see Mt. Hood once when I’ve been in Portland.
I always smile when I see your pictures though….
Something I should add here is a little note on geography for those who aren’t familiar with the area: Mt Hood is, oh, forty or so miles to the east of Portland, and Madras is some forty-odd miles to the east of Mt Hood. So the bottom photo is looking east and is what Portlanders see on a good day. The top photo is looking west, from the other side of the Cascade range.
On a clear day, we can see the top of Mt. Hood from the summit of Mission Ridge. We had such a day last Saturday, and it was stunning, even from such distance. You’ve captured it beautifully here!
Who goes to Madras?
Oh ya, nice photos.
I wish my job took me to exotic places, like Thailand. Instead it takes me to pokey little Oregon towns.
Fantastic photos!
Clicked over from Hilly’s site. I figure we share a lot of the same reads (Dustin, Hilly, Dave, Jenny, etc.) so why not read you as well.
And, to think, the first post I read on your site is you buying your way out of silence. Heh.
Hey Kapgar, welcome! Thanks for the compliment, and I’ll get around to writing something soon. Honest.
Dude, seriously. You’re getting to be as unreliable as I am. Save yourself from my fate. POST SOMETHING!
