After a whole week of keeping us on the collective edges of our seats the snow finally fell on Portland, promptly burying all the roads and driving the ill-prepared populace into a frenzy of driving into snowbanks. People are finding ways to cope, but what’s that they say about a pinch of prevention? If you’ve got the sense to prepare yourself before the blizzard hits you’ll do all right. I concede I didn’t put much planning into my preparations but things ended up working out well so feel free to copy my method.
First of all, to ward off the worst of the cold make sure to ONLY consume drinks that are actually on fire.
Throw some good company into the mix, and some warm scarves, and if you both have a friend in Chicago maybe you can call her, and gosh if you can find bars with pretty waitresses where they scoop thimblefulls of moonshine right out of a barrel for you then you’re more or less set.
You don’t have to follow these steps to the letter, but it’s what I did and I think I’ll have no problem grinning through the snow-filled days ahead.

Sounded like you guys had a bit more than a thimbleful of moonshine by the time you called…
It’s -20 degrees in Chicago with the windchill. Can you please send me some burny drinks? Please?

O, to live in a city where the bars have barrels of moonshine.

Dear Sexy Sassy Fellow Friend and Portlander,
Happy snow week…..too bad you’re not within walking distance, we could have spent the whole weekend together…… Happy snowy Christmas week to you.
Sincerely,
An Admirer
PS….Do you have your fancy red holiday dress out of the closet for the parties this week??

I’m thinking about shutting my eyes and wiggling my nose just so that I can magically transport into that first picture. Well, after I put my pants back on, anyway.

It looks so beautiful. And the firey drinks sound wonderful. I used the snowblower for the first time ever in my life last week and all my fingers are still attached. Not quite as much fun as it seems like you had with your big snow, but it will do for me.

Fire good.
Stay warm and take solace in the fact that all your crap weather hits us eventually.

brandon, amen to both of those.
jenny, what I want to know is why aren’t we drinking burny drinks RIGHT NOW?
sir, it’s like a really cold paradise.
lewis, not until I can find some matching tights! it’s freezing out!
hilly, who needs pants? you’ll fit right in with us without them.
tori, using a snowblower is exactly what I need right now. I’ll trade you a fiery drink for one!
kapgar, yeah, I guess we don’t have that much to complain about, compared to Chicago.
