Iron Fist

I almost wish I had one of these

I remember I had on on-going nerd joke with one of my friends from Calc I about taking the potato-powered clock idea to its logical extreme and powering the city of Boise from all the electricity produced by the outlying potato fields in Idaho.

Just today, I found out about a dude here in Portland who had a similar idea, although instead of powering an entire city with spuds, he went for the somewhat more practical idea of powering a stereo with taters. From his website:

I built a potato battery out of 500 pounds of potatoes. It powered a small sound system. With the help of the Red 76 crew I installed the battery and sound system in the back of a U-Haul truck and drove it around town inviting people to enter the truck and take a listen.

Now, tell me that isn’t the coolest science project ever.

Gresham’s Finest

I had the priviliege last week to attend my rockin’ friend Barbara’s graduation from Oregon Cop School, and snapped this picture of her:

As for that other officer in the photo, a spokesperson for Ms. Carroll assured me that they were “just friends.”

It’s that time of year again

The time of year when the Merc rolls out their Annual Sex Survey. So get out there and take it! And then come back here and let us know how you answered.

Guerrila Masquerade Party in Portland

If you like dressing up and wish that Halloween was every weekend, maybe you should consider hooking up with the Guerrila Masquerade Party set, coming soon to Portland. Apparently it’s already a big hit in Seattle, and one of their old members is looking to start up a Masquerade Party movement here in Stumptown.

The premise is that you’ll get an email with the name of the bar and the theme for the party, and everyone gets decked up in costume and shows up and takes over the joint.

For those of you damn kids who are into the whole MySpace thing, GMP-Portland has its own MySpace page.

Monochrome Madness

Here’s an awesome shot of some ladies looking super hot at Ashley’s Monochromatic Birthday Party:

Super glam!

If you’re thinking, “Dude, I was at that party, and I looked hot — so where’s my photo?”, have no fear, there’s a slew of pictures of good looking people coming up.

Here we have some ladies in red:

and the birthday girl with one of her residents:
Ashley and Ian

Here’s red, black and green representing:
Jenny, Ian, Ivy

Blue and orange mix it up a little:
Sibyl and Kevin

And if you’re one of those people who has a thing for fishnets:
Rose's feet

Sibyl's legs, for some reason

That may be too much collective hotness for the average viewer to handle. I’ll have the rest of the photos from that party up online soon.
