Iron Fist

rainy Saturdays

It’s well enough that it’s raining and dreary today, because I didn’t feel like doing much anyway. I’d had plans to do a bike ride at sunrise, meet one friend for coffee in the morning and another for lunch, and I’d had an offer to go on a daytrip to the beach and another to hang out and just shoot the breeze, but I ended up doing none of the above and being just fine with that.

Instead, seeing the overcast skies this morning, I elected to devote today to some quality Me-Time. I’ve been cramming so much activity into my waking (and sleeping) hours over the last three weeks or so that what I really need is a day to just check out and be a recluse. Thusly I am holed up in a coffee shop in the Pearl right now, reading through backed-up emails, sorting and filing all the events of the last few weeks into some sort of relevant whole, and processing the sheer volume of information I’ve ingested lately.

I’ll be sociable again tomorrow. And the next day, and the day after that. But today I really need to just check out for a while.
